Concrete

As a child, I used to hear the cries of wild animals from the fields outside my grandmothers window. Today there is concrete there. Nothing marks total destruction like concrete, destruction meant to prevent life from growing back.

Even concrete has glitches, and sometimes a tiny blade of grass peeks through the cracks. It is the exception that proves the rule, and the purpose of concrete: extermination forever. We are turning the world more and more into cement and concrete, though it is still just 0.7% of all Earth’s land area.
