The Mother of All Discrimination

The ultimate discrimination is the discrimination between discriminations. As morality progresses within us, we peel away more and more layers of unjust view, of bias, only sentientism is left.

Some people discriminate against Black people or gay people. Some no longer discriminate against humans at all. Some discriminate according to place or circumstance. For example, they take into account all sentient beings, but only as long as those beings are in areas under full human-control, such as farms, or partial human control, such as cities. The wild does not interest them. If a fox runs from the city into the forest, and broke his leg jumping of a fence in the urban side, they care. If he broke his leg climbing a steep hill in a natural habitat, they don't care. But as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s said, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere".

The distinction between different kinds of suffering in the world, based on the cause of the suffering, comes from an imagined reality. The very distinction between the the zebra's suffering and the cow's suffering, even though neither you nor I personally caused either of them, divides the world in a very specific way that we have learned from the culture we live in. I don't divide the world into species because I look form the inside, not outside. I find it bizarre to think "I will help beings who are harmed by other beings which look like me, but not help ones that are harmed by beings that don't look like me".

Ekho is my compass for seeing reality as it is, simulating other beings, and not discriminating. Pain is pain, wherever the being who experience it is at, whatever fictional category does it belong to according to humans, whatever the cause of the pain is. Whatever, whenever. It doesn't matter.

If we do not dream of a world of welfare for all sentient beings, that world has no chance. Strangely enough, almost no human has a vision for a good world, not even animal advocates. Not a good world * excluding most sentient beings on earth (wild animals), but a truly good world. A welfare state for all.
