Roads are Free-Animal Slaughterhouses

There is a very good chance you have run over a mammal, bird, reptile or amphibian during the last year. An older study from the late 1980s found that, in the United States, more than one million vertebrates are killed every day by vehicle collisions! (Lalo, 1987). Since then, I assume the number of casualties only increased with the proliferation of cars and roads.

Human transportation is one of the most the violent technologies invented. It is an insane example of systemic violence against animals. Furthermore, roads connect different municipalities, crossing through the wild and causing "habitat fragmentation", i.e. massive killing and disruptions of life. Roads are like a constant war we are engaging on animals, 24/7, no breaks. True, unlike concrete, roads were not made to kill, but so does alien transportation. It is just designed with indifference to the global majority.
