Me as a child
My name is Ronen Bar, but some friends call me Rain. I like to think about me as Raining. It's raining now. Some day, it will stop raining, and I will no longer be. It's more accurate to think about the world as verbs, not nouns.
I am, or wannabe:
- Big Secrets explorer
- Sentientist, observing monkey
- Reducing suffering activist, pro-animal entrepreneur, effective altruist who is into AI welfare and AI safety (and they are more complementary , less contradictive, than people tend to think)
- 43 years old, but age is just a number that indicates how close you are to being really old and dying
- Married (practically, never had a ceremony) for ~12 years
- Had a feline child, Zaika, the love of my life. Died on 01-07-26

- I live in Israel, for now
- I strive for belieflessness, choosing rationality
- I try to do ethical reasoning based on the perspective of Ekho, the alien journalist
- I play soccer
- I am obsessed with how language influences thought
- I see the extermination of the free and the slaughter of the enslaved everywhere. We are a civilization based on atrocities towards non-humans. It is basically all one big slaughterhouse, which has different shapes and forms...
- I am very influenced by Buddhism, especially vipassana meditation in the Goenka tradition
