- This whitewashing effect of environmental discourse first struck me when I read an article titled Primate Conservation: Is the Cup Half Empty or Half Full?. I realized more than 300 million monkeys were killed during the nineties due to deforestation. This unbelievable number is sugarcoated in the scientific and environmental jargon of conservation. Let's try this with humans: "Tutsi conservation: is the cup half empty or half full?". It sounds so grotesque. While reading this article it struck me: this is a primate monkey genocide

- "A massive explosion in the city of Paris caused great environmental destruction. Grey activists are working to clean the area and make it as safe as possible. Despite this being the third attack this year, population conservation efforts continue to have major success over the last half-decade”. This fictional newspaper subtitle applies the environmental terminology to the human world. Many children were killed in the terror attack, but they are not mentioned.
